Position: Manager, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Department: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Location: Wilson site, Onsite

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Flexibility Required

Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Organizational Development and working closely with the support of our EDI Executive Sponsors the Manager of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is responsible in leading the EDI program and ensuring that the EDI Systems are aligned with the organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead equity, diversity and inclusion related initiatives and annual goals and their sustainability throughout the organization including initiatives required by the Toronto Region/Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN)
  • Develop regular reports and status updates on the corporate EDI priorities
  • Provide leadership support and chair Humber River Health’s EDI Advisory Committee
  • Develop and lead broader health equity and internal demographic population surveys, to integrate into equity, diversity and inclusion programs and practices
  • Review and propose changes to existing policies and procedures to ensure they embed important elements of EDI
  • Draft communications, create speaking notes, draft award applications and create presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders
  • Design and implement key performance indicators, monitoring and reporting systems to effectively benchmark best practices, organizational progress and impact in equity and social accountability, and act as a catalyst for leveraging initiatives to drive sustainable growth and opportunity
  • Acts as Key Subject Matter Expert for HRH on Anti-Black Racism, Equity and Social Accountability programs
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to positively impact access to care for equity deserving groups
  • Lead the design, development and sustainment of core EDI and anti-racism training and education programs and initiatives to advance the awareness and understanding of EDI concepts across the organization and build understanding and culture competency for all staff, physicians and volunteers
  • Develop, maintain and support meaningful partnerships with the North West Toronto community including the North West Toronto Ontario Health team
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships within the community of equity, diversity and inclusion practitioners and forge enhanced community partnerships
  • Support the Human Resources team to attract and retain diverse talent that reflect the community HRH serves
  • Evaluate and monitor trends, issues, legislation etc. and provide guidance to ensure best practices and compliance
  • Represents HRH and serves as a subject matter expert on equity, diversity and inclusion related issues at community events, conferences, professional associations etc.
  • Act as main point of contact for community programs related to equity opportunities
  • In partnership with clinical, academic and support services leaders, physicians and staff, support and enable meaningful partnership with underserved and underrepresented groups in the design and delivery of health services that are culturally safe and responsive to best meet the needs of the communities we serve
  • Manage short and long term initiatives and projects that involve collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Responsible for end-to-end project management, ensuring timelines, communication and key deliverables are achieved
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining budget including preparing reports and business cases for additional funding

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in social justice, education, sociology or public/business administration in addition to ideally five years of recent experience in leading equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives with internal and external stakeholders. Preferred attributes include a Master’s degree, Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional, Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion designation or Certified Human Resources Professional. Lived experience or extensive knowledge of the North Western Toronto community is required.
