ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is responsible for providing strategic planning, analysis, development, management, and evaluation of Division specific Well-being Programs that support the psychological and physical health of employees. Working directly with People, Equity and Culture partners in Corporate Wellness, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility (IDEA) and Employee Health and Safety, identifies needs and develops, coordinates, and delivers specialized well-being and IDEA initiatives and programs for Division staff, while making sure they are in alignment with Corporate programs, policies, and procedures, while meeting legislative requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Collaborates/works with partners and follows the People, Equity and Culture’s corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and direction.
• Analyzes, plans, develops, manages, and evaluates Division specific Programs that support psychological and physical health of employees; in consultation with partners in the People, Equity and Culture Branch, Seniors Services education unit and external vendors/providers.
• Division lead on inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility including assisting with and applying an IDEA lens to analysis of practices and procedures, capacity building and program management.
• Implements division wide equity, diversity and inclusion strategy and initiatives in partnership with the People Equity and Culture Branch.
• Supports and participates in the Branch’s Wellness Committees and initiatives, in collaboration with Corporate Wellness.
• Ensures legislative requirements regarding psychologically safe and healthy workplaces are being met.
• Manages and coordinates resources required to deliver the programs across the Division.
• Conducts regular analysis, surveys, and assessments to determine needs and areas requiring planning and support.
• Maintains partnerships with suppliers that provide resources for mental health support and assesses and contracts with external education vendors/providers, in partnership with People, Equity and Culture Branch.
• Researches and maintains currency of knowledge on workplace well-being issues, health promotion, and National Standard for Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.
• Manages research, development, implementation, continuous promotion and evaluation of employee wellness, peer support, return to work and psychologically healthy workplace programs.
• Leads the research and analysis on pertinent issues, needs and trends for management to make informed program and policy decisions.
• Provides direction in the development and implementation of program plans, and policies and procedures ensuring consistency and alignment of all plans with broader corporate plans, standards, and business goals.
• Oversees the strategic and operational planning and the development of the communication strategies and annual business plan, including resources allocation, and monitors the action plan for achieving results.
• Supervises staff, including recruitment, selection, hiring, scheduling, assigning, and monitoring work, determining training and development needs, coaching and mentoring, conducting performance appraisals and determining/recommending disciplinary action up to and including dismissal in accordance with collective agreements, Regional policies, and practices.
• Ensures that operating staff work in a safe manner and utilize all required health and safety equipment and protective devices and follow all measures and procedures as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Regional Policies.
• Participates or acts as Department representative on various internal and external committees, task forces and focus groups, as directed.
• Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Successful completion of a University Degree in Health Sciences, Psychology, Workplace Wellness, Health Promotion, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three (3) years experience in wellbeing program implementation, design development, delivery, and evaluation in a health care discipline and minimum one (1) year of direct supervisory experience.
• Experience in development of policies, including research, writing, interpreting, and evaluating policies.
• Strong working knowledge of policies and practices related to IDEA.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant program development, applicable legislation and industry standards, and current practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts and Regulations.
• Demonstrated ability in the Region's leadership and core competencies.
• Demonstrated report writing, analytical and project management skills to meet program objectives and work to tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate programs and services in assigned program area, and to develop and implement change management plans.
• Staff supervisory skills including knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles and practices and relevant employment legislation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a range of internal and external partners while focusing on fostering collaborative work relationships.
• Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills with a strong customer focus.
• Informed and active leadership to confront bias and systemic barriers and comply with or build inclusive practices in business processes, recruitment practices, team management, etc. to ensure inclusive and equitable workplace.
• Intermediate skills in virtual platforms and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to travel to offsite locations, as required.
• Ability to work outside regular business hours.
