NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: Quality Assurance Lead, InterHospital Laboratory Partnership (IHLP) Regional Program
Temporary Full-Time (Approx. 7 months)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Lead will champion quality management activities outlined in the Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (ACD) Laboratory requirements. The position will work closely with the Laboratory Director, the Regional Manager, other Regional Staff, and the IHLP staff to facilitate the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures across the region and within individual hospital laboratories. The individual will also provide redundancy/support to the current IHLP Regional Team for general oversight and quality management.
REPORTS TO: IHLP Laboratory Director and the IHLP Regional Manager
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $50.50 to $56.11 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited training program in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
- Current (or eligibility for) registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) preferred
- University degree, e.g., BMLSc, BSc, preferred
- Certification in Quality Management, e.g., CLQM, and/or Lean/Six Sigma, and/or Project Management, e.g., PMP, preferred
- ACD Assessor status, or completion of the IQMH Internal Auditing Course, preferred
Experience:
- At least 5 years of current experience in leadership and/or project management
- At least 5 years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory
- Experience in working with electronic document control software
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and improving laboratory quality systems; evaluating risks related to the quality management system; supporting quality improvement initiatives; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to improve services to patients, staff, and regional hospital partners; gathering and analyzing data in support of departmental projects, corporate and regional initiatives; and facilitating management review and quality reporting
Abilities:
- Ability to prepare correspondence and reports
- Ability to work effectively with hospital/laboratory information systems
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Excel and Word
- Ability to interpret and apply regulated lab standards and best practices
- Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentational skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to problem solve and think strategically
- Ability to utilize available resources to achieve a goal
