Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing medical laboratory tests and analysis to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

The ideal candidate will have a diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Science and certification by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science. Experience in working independently and strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.

The successful candidate will be required to work any combination of days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call, and must be able to meet the physical demands of the MLT position.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform medical laboratory tests and analysis to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support the Patient and Family Centered Care philosophy and participate in quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety activities.
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, professional standards, and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Certification by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Currently registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
  • 1-year core lab experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Assets:

  • Experience with current laboratory analyzers.
  • Experience with the current Laboratory Information System.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work any combination of days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call.
  • Must be able to work at both sites of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the MLT position.

Salary: $36.84 - $50.24
