BCHA’s mission is Shaping the future of Hospitality. We advocate, communicate, and educate.

The BCHA’s membership is comprised of over 800 Accommodation Members – any owner, operator, or senior management leader of any operating accommodation or lodging business – and 180 Allied Members – any supplier, vendor, or partner of the hospitality industry in BC. The BCHA is working to diversify its revenue streams by developing a revenue-generating entity that will operate independently from the BCHA, and seeking further opportunities for strategic partnerships to maximize its capacity to deliver support to its members.

BCHA has been under the leadership of a highly-regarded President & Chief Executive Officer (President & CEO), who will be leaving the organization at the end of 2024 to focus her contributions in other meaningful ways.

President & CEO

With the objective of building upon the current foundation of success, the organization is seeking a President & CEO who will continue to unleash the potential of the BCHA team, seek opportunities for ongoing financial stability and increased capacity, and be highly transparent and collaborative in all that they do. They will excel at stakeholder engagement and be a strong advocate for the sector. This will require deep listening and an understanding of the needs and challenges facing hoteliers to determine what’s important to advocate and lobby for with government.

The next President & CEO will be a champion of both BCHA and the sector and model ethical behaviours of integrity, accountability, leadership and curiosity. The ideal candidate will be tenacious, forward-thinking, and entrepreneurial with prior experience as a senior executive. A high level of financial/business acumen and exceptional relationship-building skills are also required to enable the next President & CEO to successfully navigate the complex relationships with government and sector leaders. Experience and exposure to the hospitality and tourism industries will be an important asset.

Requirements

Experiential Requirements

  • University degree in government relations, business administration, or other relevant discipline or a combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of previous executive leadership experience, preferably with a provincial association or complex environment with multiple interest holders
  • Experience in the hospitality and/or tourism sectors would be an asset
  • Strong understanding of board governance and the ability to support and guide strategic board conversations

Compensation

The current salary range for this position is $140,000 to $ 180,000. Actual total compensation will be based on the knowledge, skills, and experience of the successful candidate as well as performance as evaluated by the Search Committee.
