Position: HR Manager

Location: Corporate office in Steinbach, MB

Barkman currently employs team members across four provinces (MB/SK/AB/BC), offering you the opportunity to connect with individuals at all levels of the organization.

The HR/Safety team at Barkman focuses on providing a people-focused work environment through recruitment and onboarding practices, training and career development, benefits and compensation programs, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Provide support and guidance to HR team, payroll, management, and staff for complex issues.
  2. Motivate and develop a collaborative HR and Safety team.
  3. Support leadership in employee relations, performance management, and compliance with employment and safety legislation.
  4. Participate in HR initiatives and provide guidance to employees on various matters.
  5. Implement change management and strategic leadership.
  6. Participate in corporate events, job fairs, safety events, and networking functions.
  7. Perform other assigned duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and relationship management.
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships and work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Focus on teamwork, continuous improvement, and open communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications:
  • Education in Human Resource Management, business administration, and/or payroll administration.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) preferred.
  • Minimum five years of HR experience with employee relations.
  • Minimum three years of direct supervision experience.
  • Interest in continuous personal career development.
Assets:
  • Experience in a multi-provincial production environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction environments.
  • Experience in managing health and safety programs.

Location: This role is based in Steinbach with travel to Winnipeg, Alberta, and BC.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
