WHAT'S THE JOB?

Our team is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our passionate, talented team to manage and lead an exciting mix of local and not-so-local projects. This role is based in Vancouver, BC.

A BIT ABOUT THE PERSON WHO WILL EXCEL IN THIS ROLE

We are looking for someone with project and technical experience in high-end single family homes who is familiar with local building practices, permitting, and industry standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Perform detailed structural design under the mentorship of the principal-in-charge.
  • Act as project manager and engineer of record for medium to large-sized custom home projects, throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with other design consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Share your advanced knowledge of codes and standards within the area of your design responsibilities.
  • Deliver project deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and help promote our core values.
  • Be creative and innovative in problem-solving.
  • Act as a role model and technical mentor to other engineers and BIM technicians.
  • Work with a team that is passionate, focused, and dedicated in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Contribute to a fun and welcoming work environment.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 7-10+ years of local experience designing buildings, especially designing high-end custom homes.
  • P.Eng. registered in BC or eligible for accreditation within 6 months of your start date is essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to use programs such as RFEM, S-Concrete, Sizer, or other similar structural analysis software.

EXTRA AWESOME

  • Well-rounded knowledge and experience designing with wood frame, steel, and concrete. Experience with mass timber is an asset but is not required.
  • Understanding and experience with seismic analysis and design.
  • Master’s degree in structural engineering is an asset.
  • Experience with architecturally expressive structures.
  • Working knowledge of American codes and standards (PE is also advantageous) is an asset.

A BIT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ASPECT

Founded in 2016, we are now a cohesive team of more than 50 engineers, technicians, and support staff. Our team-based approach focuses on better design, improved constructability, and unwavering accountability.
