Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings

One of the Leading Consulting Engineering Firms in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team, reporting to the Manager of Engineering.

This role is pivotal in expanding the team and business by engaging new clients and architect firms, particularly within the Institutional and Healthcare sectors. With extensive experience in developing healthcare facilities across Canada, the ideal candidate will be positioned to grow into a Structural Area Lead role.

Your Role

  • Prepare proposals and participate in business development activities, including strategy
  • and implementation.
  • Conduct periodic site visits, attend client meetings, and mentor technical staff.
  • Develop reports and contract documents, including construction drawings and technical
  • specifications.
  • Oversee schematic and detailed designs and evaluate planning and concept alternatives.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Engineering to ensure design detailing meets company
  • standards.
  • Contribute to larger-scale project pursuits requiring external design services.
  • Manage projects, providing feedback to the project lead on schedule feasibility.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds a degree in Structural Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a Struct. Eng designation in Vancouver.
  • Has 10+ years of engineering practice experience, particularly in large-scale Institutional and Healthcare projects. Local experience in BC and/or City Vancouver is an asset.
  • Possesses a minimum of 7 years of experience in Concrete, Steel, and Wood design, with a
  • strong understanding of building science, seismic, and construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with the National Building Code of Canada is required.
  • Demonstrates exceptional business development skills, with established relationships within Vancouver’s development community and local architects.
  • Is proficient in structural engineering applications such as ETABS, Safe, and STAAD Pro.
