Position: Immigration Assistant


Location: Surrey, BC


Role Overview:

We are seeking a full-time Immigration Assistant to join our fast-paced law firm in Surrey, BC, providing crucial support to our solo practicing lawyer. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing and filing immigration applications, conducting legal research, communicating with clients, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring adherence to professional standards and confidentiality.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including TRVs, PRs, LMIAs, and PNPs.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant case laws to support immigration and judicial review applications.
  • Summarize documents and information for easy reference.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates.
  • Manage files using practice management software.
  • Generate invoices, process payments, and maintain financial records.
  • Organize and manage documents effectively.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as answering calls, scheduling, and general office duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-month to 1-year diploma in legal or business administration or related experience.
  • 1-2 years of Canadian experience as an Immigration Assistant or similar role.


Language Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages such as Hindi and/or Punjabi is an asset.
