About the Role


We are looking for a Product Specialist who will act as a Subject Matter Expert on greenhouse structures and benches, providing product expertise to the Sales team and customers. This individual supports the Sales team with preparing quotes, entering sales orders, responding to parts inquiries and providing general customer support. This role is as a key liaison between Sales, Engineering and Purchasing to provide a high level of customer service.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with Sales and Engineering teams to develop customer requirements from initial concept to design and quotation;
  • Assist in the development of new products as necessary, developing relationships with key suppliers as necessary;
  • Gather information to determine types of greenhouse structures to produce, market and support to meet customer needs;
  • Stay on top of market trends, changes, competitor offerings and share findings with Sales team;
  • Act as super user for the Westbrook Greenhouse Structures Quote Model;
  • Incorporate products into quote model for quick quotes and support Sales team with quotations, solutions and pricing for custom items;
  • Maintain information in our ERP system relevant to products and sales including pricing, RFQ log and project tracking;
  • Generate and maintain sales orders, providing updates to Sales team with production/delivery schedule changes;
  • Act as primary contact for customer inquiries, parts orders and builder/customer project support;
  • Provide training to sales team and support sales team with customer visits as required;
  • Work collaboratively with other departments on order fulfillment, project management; and with Marketing to develop sales support collateral (brochures, catalogues, flyers, advertising, social media, etc.);
  • Participate in the development of annual business plans, goals to increase sales, enhance margin, customer satisfaction;
  • Perform periodic analysis of project quotes vs. actual project costs;
  • Coordinate with installers to determine pricing and scheduling requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma in a related field or equivalent relevant work experience;
  • Minimum 5 years’ greenhouse industry-related experience (greenhouse structural systems, heating and mechanical systems, greenhouse builder, greenhouse grower, etc.);
  • Ability to read CAD drawings, 2D Auto CAD experience preferred;
  • Previous experience in a technical inside sales role an asset;
  • Prior experience working with ERP systems an asset.


SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Technical aptitude to read/interpret engineering drawings, understand manufacturing processes;
  • Exceptional customer service skills – able to respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other departments;
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines;
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Flexible, open attitude to share opinions and expertise to solve problems;
  • Strong organization skills, with the ability to work independently;
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills with intermediate Excel skills.
