The College of Dental Surgeons of Alberta (CDSA) registers dentists and ensures that the dental health of Albertans is advanced through safe, available, quality, and ethical dental services. The CDSA governs the profession of dentists in a manner that protects and serves the public and patients in accordance with the Health Professions Act, and is accomplished by:


  • Establishing, maintaining, and enforcing standards for registration and continuing competence for the profession of Dentists in Alberta,
  • Establishing, maintaining, and enforcing a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, including monitoring and evaluating professional, clinical, and ethical standards,
  • Providing direction to, and regulating the practice of the dentist’s profession, and
  • Acting on a complaint about a dentist by resolving, investigating, or referring the matter to a hearing, and enforcing any orders that a hearing tribunal may make.

About the Position

As the Standards and Practice Visits Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with a team to administer the CDSA Standards of Practice, Continuing Competence Program, and Practice Visits Program.


You will have experience working in a dental clinic as a Dental Assistant and/or Office Manager with general knowledge of how a dental clinic operates, and a proven ability to collaborate. This position offers an opportunity to play a critical role in promoting ethical and professional standards in dental practices across Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to the public, dentists, and third parties, offering information on the Standards of Practice, Continuing Competence and Practice Visits Programs.
  • Review and track continuing education credit hours to ensure dentists meet their requirements to continue practicing.
  • Receive, review, and maintain applications, approvals, and other documentation relating to the CDSA Standards of Practice for Sedation, Facial Esthetics, and the corresponding educational requirements.
  • Schedule, conduct, report, and follow-up on virtual practice visits in dental clinics. 
  • Collaborate closely with team members to ensure files are appropriately diarized, documented, and followed up.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong active listening and communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong time management abilities to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Effective knowledge of and confidence working in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and respect for diverse perspectives and backgrounds.


Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a dental office.
  • Experience in dental clinic management is an asset.
  • Knowledge or experience in Infection Prevention and Control is an asset.
  • Dental Assistant Certificate with an active registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistant is an asset.


Work Schedule: Full-time: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be dedicated to and excited about an in-office work arrangement in our Edmonton, AB office.


Salary: Starting salary, $70,000 per year plus health benefits
