In-House Legal Counsel – Real Estate & Leasing Location: Concord, OntarioSchedule: 3 Days per Week (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)Compensation: $130,000–$140,000 About the EmployerA well-established, privately owned real estate organization is seeking part-time in-house legal support. The company has a long-standing presence in the Greater Toronto Area and manages a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, and retail properties. The internal culture is collaborative, low-bureaucracy, and team-oriented, offering a stable and supportive work environment.Position OverviewThe organization is looking for an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to support its real estate, commercial leasing, and property management activities. This is a part-time role (three days per week) ideal for a legal professional seeking meaningful, ongoing work with a predictable schedule and strong work-life balance.You will oversee day-to-day legal matters related to leasing, tenant relations, property operations, construction issues, and coordination with external counsel on litigation or claims. The role requires comfort working independently in a small office environment and handling a broad range of commercial real estate matters.Key ResponsibilitiesLeasing & Property ManagementReview, interpret, and revise commercial leases, amendments, renewals, and related agreements.Support leasing staff with tenant onboarding and lease compliance issues.Advise on landlord-tenant matters and enforcement issues.Litigation & Claims CoordinationCoordinate matters involving construction disputes, insurance claims, and property damage.Act as the internal liaison with external legal counsel.Track claim progress and provide recommendations on risk mitigation.Real Estate & Corporate Legal SupportAssist with due diligence and matters related to acquisitions, zoning, and land use.Provide guidance on general corporate and operational matters arising in a property management environment.Draft and review various legal documents to support ongoing operations.Internal CollaborationWork closely with senior leadership, leasing teams, and property management staff.Provide practical, solutions-focused advice and proactively address issues before escalation.Maintain organized legal records and communicate updates to management.QualificationsLL.B. or J.D., and member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.15+ years of legal experience, ideally in real estate, commercial leasing, or property management.In-house experience an asset, but candidates from private practice with relevant expertise are encouraged to apply.Strong ability to work independently and manage varied legal responsibilities.Excellent communication, judgment, and organizational skills.Comfortable working on-site in a close-knit, team-based office environment.
