Reporting to the Fitness Centre Coordinator, the Program Representatives -Fitness and Wellness staff deliver a variety of group fitness and wellness programming. Fitness and Wellness staff lead and supervise exercise sessions in one or more assigned fitness areas, including but not limited to low impact aerobics, high intensity aerobics, stretching/flexibility, circuit training, core conditioning, strength training, small group personal training, aquatic fitness, Inuit games and general fitness. They will lead programs for a wide range of ages and abilities and be able to adapt programming accordingly.
It is the responsibility of Personal Trainers to ensure that the environment is socially inclusive. They must ensure that when responding to the diverse needs of guests that interactions demonstrate sensitivity and personal awareness. Other duties include basic equipment maintenance, providing support to guest services as needed with administrative tasks, and responding to member questions and concerns. Must be an ambassador for the Aquatic Centre and demonstrate the City of Iqaluit’s Vision, Misson and Recreation Department Core Competencies in their work and interactions with guests.
This position also includes cleaning duties, enforcement of Centre rules and regulations, and emergency response to ensure the safety of all guests.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Fitness Instructor or Coaching certification or ability to achieve within first month of employment (CALA, WaterArt, CanfitPro PTS or FIS, ACE, NCCP Coaching Level 1 or equivalent) Experience with group fitness Standard First Aid and CPR – C Customer service experience Excellent communication skills
Holding a diploma/degree in Kinesiology or directly related field and the ability to speak Inuktitut and/or French are considered definite assets.
Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Due to the nature of this position, successful candidates would be required to submit a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, as well as a TB Test.

Relevant du coordonnateur du centre de conditionnement physique, les représentants de programme occasionnels – conditionnement physique et mieux-être assurent la prestation d’un éventail de programmes de groupe en conditionnement physique et en mieux-être. Le personnel de conditionnement physique et de mieux-être dirige et supervise des séances d’exercices dans une ou plusieurs zones de conditionnement physique notamment, mais sans s’y limiter, les exercices aérobiques modérés, les exercices aérobique à forte intensité, les étirements et la flexibilité, l’entraînement en circuit, le gainage, le renforcement musculaire, l’entraînement personnel en petit groupe, l’aquaforme, les jeux inuits et le conditionnement physique général. Ces représentants dirigeront les programmes pour des personnes de tous les âges et capacités et devront adapter la programmation en conséquence.
Il incombe aux entraîneuses et entraîneurs personnels d’assurer un environnement socialement inclusif. Ils doivent répondre aux besoins divers de la clientèle par des interactions qui démontrent leur sensibilité et leur conscience personnelle. Les autres tâches comprennent : effectuer l’entretien de base de l’équipement, offrir une assistance au service à la clientèle au besoin en accomplissant des tâches administratives et répondre aux questions et préoccupations des membres. Les représentants doivent être des ambassadeurs du Centre aquatique, appliquer la vision et la mission de la Ville d’Iqaluit et montrer des compétences de base du Service des loisirs dans leur travail et leurs interactions avec les clients.
Ce poste comprend aussi des tâches de nettoyage, l’application des règles du Centre et l’intervention d’urgence pour assurer la sécurité de tous les clients.
EXIGENCES EN MATIÈRE DE DISPONIBILITÉ
QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES
Le titre d’instructeur de conditionnement physique, un certificat d’entraîneur ou la capacité d’obtenir l’un ou l’autre au cours du premier mois d’emploi (CALA, WaterArt, programme PTS ou FIS de CanfitPro, ACE, entraîneur niveau 1 du PNCE ou l’équivalent) Une expérience dans le conditionnement physique en groupe Une formation en secourisme général et RCP-C Une expérience en service à la clientèle Une excellente aptitude à communiquer
Être titulaire d’un diplôme en kinésiologie ou dans un domaine lié directement et être en mesure de parler l’inuktitut ou le français constituent des atouts majeurs.
Une combinaison jugée acceptable d’études et d’expérience pourrait être prise en compte.
En raison de la nature du poste, les personnes retenues doivent passer une vérification du casier judiciaire, une vérification de l’habilitation à travailler auprès de personnes vulnérables et un test de dépistage de la tuberculose.
