The Opportunity:

You will be responsible for managing the contractual agreements for major rail and transit projects, including negotiating, supporting, and managing the contracts. You will be involved in extensive contact with clients, sub-consultants, and project staff; therefore organizational & communication skills are paramount for success. What you can expect to do here:

  • You will work within an existing Commercial Management team in support of the Transportation Systems group, managing Rail and Transit, Ports, Marine and Coastal, and Aviation market sectors.
  • You will draft, prepare, review, and manage contracts, including teaming agreements, Memorandum of Understanding, Joint Venture Agreements, Consultant Agreements and Subconsultant/Subcontractor Agreements.
  • You will assist the teams in the interpretation and application of contractual terms;
  • Review and provide recommendations on the terms and conditions of all standard and non-standard contracts.
  • You will help in developping and implementing procedures for contract management and administration in line with company policy.
  • You will monitor competitive terms and customer satisfaction with the terms and conditions and contracting practices.
  • You will be strategizing along with recommending changes as required and manage on-going and critical contractual issues on projects; may include claims management, conflicts of interest, etc.
  • You will educate and provide guidance on contract matters to project managers and other operational staff including training on contracting best practices in the market (through workshops).
  • Lead the contract management lifecycle process; Ensure contract management, execution and close out.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • University or equivalent education or experience in Business, Law or similar
  • You have ideally 10 years + experience in contract administration within consulting engineering, and ideally on large projects working with various stakeholders
  • You definitely understand what is risk assessment on large complex capital projects
  • You are familiar with transit systems operations, asset managements practices and contract administration
  • You know and understand what project financing and structuring on large infrastructure development contracts
  • You know how to deal with, tight deadlines pressure, ambiguity and continuous changing environment
  • You know how to communicate effectively and adapt to your audience
  • You are solution focused rather than a glass half empty thinker.
