Role Responsibilities

Do you have a strong background in curriculum design and adult learning? Do you have experience in leading learning and development projects related to evidence-based adult training from start to finish? If so, the Public Safety & Emergency Services
Training Academy has a Curriculum Designer position that would be an excellent fit


As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate your knowledge of adult education and learning theories, concepts, methodologies, and techniques. Your leadership, diplomacy, and collaboration skills will be key to leveraging diverse working groups and co-leading projects focused on developing professional development training programs. You will work autonomously, and be trusted to direct and report on your projects to achieve deliverable targets.

Your role will have a direct impact on the Training Academy’s ability to deliver high quality, relevant training that meets the highest standards. The Training Academy trains in excess of 300 Peace Officers annually – you will have an opportunity to directly contribute to the safety and security of Albertans. 

As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following experience and skills:

Direct experience in curriculum design and development specific to adult learning. Exercise sound judgment, connect with people personally, demonstrate integrity and strive for excellence Effective leadership. Ability to meet deadlines and deliverables, and manage multiple projects simultaneously (e.g. project management). Direct instructor or facilitator experience in adult training initiatives. Ability to work collaboratively and build trust with law enforcement stakeholders. Creative and analytical agility in assessing stakeholder needs to develop and implement new programs and initiatives. Effective communication both orally and in writing, including sound documentation practices. Systems thinking by linking concepts and key learnings to larger organizational goals. Highly developed problem-solving skills.
