About Our Opportunity

As the Manager, Financial Advisory Services, you will provide sound, timely financial advice to the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.

Responsibilities include: managing the complexity of client department’s expenditure, revenue and capital budgets; accurate reporting of departmental expenditures and monthly forecasts; preparing client department year-end financial audit information as part of government’s financial results; providing advice and financial analysis on complex issues; evaluating and improving financial processes with a focus on internal controls and risk management; and leading, coaching and mentoring budget and financial staff with respect to performance management, training and development.

You will develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management in the client departments, departmental managers with financial reporting responsibilities, and representatives of Finance and Treasury Board and the Office of the Auditor General.

As the Manager, Financial Advisory Services, you will report to the Director, Financial Advisory Services.

Qualifications and Experience

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce, along with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA), plus several years of progressive financial management and supervisory experience. An acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

As the ideal candidate, you have sound experience in budget development and forecasting and possess effective leadership skills with experience developing and coaching staff members. You have strong client service skills and can provide timely and accurate financial advice to all levels of the organization, as well as to non-financial program staff and stakeholders. You have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a complex operating environment and manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines. You possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment. You are also self-motivated, have strong attention to detail, and are proficient with the Microsoft suite of services (Excel in particular).

While not required, it is considered an asset if you are proficient with the corporate financial management system (SAP) and the Salary Analysis System (SAS).
