**Primary Accountabilities**:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Financial Advisory Services, the Director, Contracts and Special Projects provides strategic financial policy advice, develops alternative positions and is the lead negotiator for the province’s position on contract negotiations. The position is responsible for all issues and activities related to the federal government, other provincial governments and First Nations communities for contract policing. The position is responsible for the administration and oversight of the Provincial Police Service Agreement (PPSA) for the RCMP and the Community Tripartite/Quadripartite Agreements for policing of the province’s First Nation communities. The incumbent acts primarily as the negotiator/facilitator between the Government of Canada, RCMP, municipal governments and indigenous communities.

The Director is also responsible to represent/manage the financial aspects for all Federal/Provincial/Territorial cost-sharing agreements on behalf of the Department of Justice. The Director ensures that proposals and submissions to the Government of Canada for funding opportunities are accurate and clearly meets the mandate of the Government of Canada. The position also ensures provincial recoveries are maximized as per the contract and relevant files are maintained for audit purposes.

The Director must be able to work well in a team environment, be client focused and capable of responding to requests with tact and diplomacy. Skills must include accuracy, the ability to work within deadlines, proven ability to exercise sound judgement and set priorities.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
To be successful in this role you will have seasoned financial experience, ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing priorities, experience with SAP or comparable large Enterprise Resource Planning Application (ERP) and demonstrated performance management skills.

You have experience with financial aspects of Federal/Provincial/Territorial cost-sharing agreements, making recommendations to senior leadership and working with external stakeholders (i.e. Federal government and/or municipalities).

As a proven leader, you have demonstrated your ability to manage interdependent stakeholder relationships from a longer-term strategic perspective. You have a strong client service orientation and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a complex operating environment. Nature of work requires professionalism and discretion to ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
