Job SummaryWe are seeking a Registered Counselling Therapist to provide individual and group therapy to clients with complex mental health conditions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team to deliver evidence-based treatments and support clients in achieving their goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual trauma therapy utilizing Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and/or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
- Conduct efficient and effective clinical client assessments (mental health history, risk assessment, trauma, and addictions).
- Facilitate psychoeducation groups (based on ACT, sleep education, DBT skills, mindfulness, and family support).
- Provide resource-based interventions, case management and coordination, transition, or discharge planning.
- Assist in grounding and reflection post-psychopharmacological treatment.
- Completion of client intake assessment and documentation.
- Demonstrate expertise and skills to support clients presenting with:
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Psychological injury
- Addiction
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Other mental health diagnoses
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Counsellor is required.
- 2+ years of experience in mental health assessment/triage and treatment is a strong asset.
- 2+ years of working with third party funders is an asset.
- 2+ years of experience treating complex PTSD is an asset.
- 2+ utilizing EMDR or ART for treatment of PTSD.
- Experience treating addiction is a strong asset.
- Experience with individual, group, and family counselling is an asset.
- A master's degree in Counselling or related field is required.
- An active registration with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists is required.
