Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Assistive Technology Department, you will play a critical role in providing consultation, assessment, treatment, and follow-up services to clients referred to our Driver Evaluation Program.
Under the direction of the Program Manager, you will work closely with clients, families, and caregivers to understand a client's ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Your expertise will be essential in assessing visual and cognitive skills, evaluating the need for specialized driving equipment, and conducting on-road driving evaluations in a modified vehicle.
You will provide counseling, education, and support to clients, families, and caregivers, while collaborating with community stakeholders and advocating for clients' needs. Your clinical experience working with older adults is an asset, and your proficiency in other languages, particularly French, is also desirable.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in occupational therapy, preferably with a graduate degree from a C.A.O.T recognized School of Occupational Therapy. You should be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS) and have a minimum of 2 years' clinical practice experience. Your BCLS certification and experience in driver evaluation are also highly valued.
You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, and caregivers. Your commitment to confidentiality and protection of clients' personal health information is essential, as is your understanding of related policies and best practices.
HoursThis is a long assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The assignment is approximately 9 months in duration.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $33.97 - $42.89. In addition, they may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
