The Opportunity
Position: Financial Analyst-Fixed Asset

The ideal candidate will have experience in capital assets accounting and set up.
Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
Responsible for setting up all assets in SAP and assign correct asset class.
Maintain and reconcile fixed asset continuity schedules, depreciation entries, software and amortization.
Responsible for tracking all approved capital cases, assign tracking and asset numbers.
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
Responsible for setting up Capital leases, booking all capital lease entries and maintaining monthly schedules.
Prepare and review all Asset related reports: Asset continuity, Capital Expenditures reports actual vs budget forecast, assets are classed correctly.
Responsible for coordination and posting of fixed asset accruals ensure reasonability in checking accrual requests.
Coordinate with the Procurement team to ensure the PO linked to correct assets and approved capex spending is correct.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulatory requirements.
Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations and co-ordinate for all Trial Balances across the various entities
Liaise with stakeholders to provide financial support as related to Capital business cases (Business Analysts, Procurement, Operations) and update capital business case form as required.
Analyze complex data, prepare summaries, pivots, charts, and graphs as required for a variety of requirements as processes develop and requirements are refined.
Responsible for providing supporting reports for budget preparation: projected carryforward, depreciation and amortizations for future year for all entities.
Monitor and track all prepaid accounts linked to asset and track the progress vs tracking of the invoices related to the asset.
Maintain respect, effective communication and relationships with management and staff of all levels.
Responsible for intangible assets including Goodwill and maintain tracking schedule.
Responsible for the preparation and the analysis of the NPD (New Product Development) reports.
Monitor and track grants related to assets/capital.
Provide support for SRED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development)
Review asset cashflow based on the forecast submission.
Help co-ordinate backup and support for annual consolidated audit and global statutory audits as requested.
Perform other duties as required.
What You Need to Succeed
Essential Competencies:
Excellent analytical skills
Advanced SAP skills in asset module, and daily and month end activities including post journal entries, investigate discrepancies and resolve issues.
Advanced Excel skills and the ability to manage complex Excel files (pivot tables, vlookups, index match, etc.)
Keen attention to detail and ability to self-check work
Demonstrated ability to work in a team situation or work independently.
Methodical in working spreadsheets with the ability to draw out the underlying trends and explain variances.
Self-starter who can manage work under tight deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in, Economics, Business Administration or Accounting or equivalent.
5+ years of accounting experience with at least 3+ years of fixed asset experience
SAP experience, with ECC 6, including FI/CO, MM, FA, SD
Advance SharePoint knowledge.
Advanced knowledge of the Adobe, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
A professional Canadian accounting designation such as CA, CMA, and/or CGA not required, but will be an asset.
Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP/IFRS
Must have excellent spreadsheet skills. Demonstrated advanced user of Microsoft Excel
Strong knowledge and understanding of SAP system. Experience in Asset management will be an asset.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Ability to balance and prioritize multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Strong ability to think creatively, challenge the status quo, deal with ambiguity, and interact with a wide variety of personalities.
