Join our team of skilled professionals who work outdoors, enjoying physical labor and being safety-minded, to ensure our infrastructure is safe, sound, and train-ready. As a Bridges & Structures Employee, you'll be part of an ever-changing, safety-first work environment, working on a crew to replace or repair worn or broken components and fabricate new ones for timber, concrete, and steel railway structures, including bridges and culverts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication, assembly, and erection of timber, concrete, and steel railway bridge components
  • Use of various common and specialized hand tools, air, hydraulic, and electric tools
  • Preparation and minor maintenance of tools for assigned work
  • Removal and replacement of defective bridge, culvert, and other structural components
  • Loading, unloading, sorting, shoveling, and distribution of various materials
  • Clean-up after work completion

Working Conditions:

As a crew member, you'll work in a unionized environment, performing various maintenance, repair, and replacement tasks in a safety-sensitive environment around heavy moving equipment outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements:

  • Ability to follow strict guidelines regarding safe work practices in a safety-sensitive environment
  • Capable of climbing and working at heights using fall protection equipment
  • Physical labor experience, including lifting, occasionally heavy lifting
  • Ability to lift from 50 lbs to 85 lbs
  • Must be qualified to operate the moveable span of Bridges and all duties associated with the movement of rail and marine traffic transiting the bridge
  • Must have valid CROR Engineering Rules Card and valid Driver's License
  • Must have good and efficient command of the English language - both verbal and written
  • Will be required to obtain a Marine Radio License and Bridgetender Rules
  • Must be capable of working various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Required to work away from home sometimes for extended periods of time
  • Completion of high school or a general equivalency diploma (GED)
