About the Job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registration/Booking Clerk at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and book patient appointments and follow-up appointments using a computerized scheduling system.
- Receive and register patients upon arrival, ensuring accurate and complete patient demographics and information.
- Perform referral functions, including data entry, paperwork processing, and scheduling new referrals based on established criteria.
- Provide receptionist and clerical duties, including answering telephones, responding to inquiries, and greeting patients and families.
- Assemble and maintain client charts, utilizing appropriate forms and layout in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, including data entry, collating information, and patient statistics.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, plus two (2) years' recent experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to keyboard 45 w.p.m.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
