About the Role

The City of Mississauga is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Museum Ambassador to join our team. As a key member of our education team, you will be responsible for leading educational programs, providing engaging tours of our historic houses, and supporting special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead educational programs for children and adults, developing content and providing tours of historic houses to a diverse public.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times to the public, including school groups, visiting artists, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with the execution of special events, including event setup and teardown, leading on-site activities, providing parking support, and traffic direction.
  • Operate a point of sale terminal and follow cash handling procedures for admissions and donations.
  • Follow a schedule of cleaning and upkeep of historic house interiors.
  • Research and information gathering.
  • Assigned tasks during public hours shifts.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience leading educational programming for children and adults.
  • Experience supporting the development and delivery of special events.
  • Must have completed or be enrolled in a post-secondary education program in History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of historical information related to Mississauga.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR B or C certification.
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Valid G class driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Level III - Vulnerable Sector Check from a Police unit that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.
