You'll be responsible for:
Creates cost estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations, at all levels of project development, as part of the internal team.Performs quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals.
Prepares the estimate with clear assumptions/exclusions and liaise with design team on regular basis.
Obtains accurate and up to date pricing information for databases, contractors, suppliers, etc to utilize in estimates.
Inputs estimate take-off information for specific discipline and develops unit cost pricing.
Works with designers and engineers to develop clear understanding of project scope preparation of estimate.
Assists senior staff in ways to make projects more efficient. Seeks ways to improve accuracy and efficiency of tasks.
Maintains project documents such as drawings and specifications in an organized and reasonable manner.
Maintains and updates data library of costs.
Prepares cost reconciliation between two or more estimates and explains variance cost drivers.
Prepares such other duties as supervisor deems necessary.
Is familiar with estimating mode of measurements and process for rail and infrastructure.
Investigates and incorporates project constraints into cost analysis.
You'll need to have:
High articulation, clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts/general conditions) at all levels of design.
A good understanding of construction methodology within the infrastructure of railways.
Great interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate effectively and a willingness and determination to progress career quickly.
Solid experience working directly with clients.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Consistent cost estimating experience with a strong focus on federal government and infrastructure projects.
Bachelor's degree in construction, quantity surveying or a related field.
You'll also have:
