LRI Engineering Inc. is a Canadian engineering firm specializing in fire protection engineering, building and fire code consulting, fire safety and emergency planning services.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Building Code Consultant to join our team in downtown Toronto. As a Building Code Consultant, you will work on a variety of projects related to design review for Building and Fire Code compliance.

  • Assist senior experts through the entire life cycle of projects consulting for clients in private and public sectors.
  • Manage project schedule, budget, and delivery.
  • Represent LRI Engineering in interactions with clients.
  • Attend site visits and meetings with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Review construction drawings for code compliance and assist in developing alternative solutions.
  • Write project reports for submission to clients.
  • Assist in preparing and managing project budgets and proposals.
  • Manage client expectations in terms of quality and schedule and responsiveness.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts as required.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a relevant degree in engineering or architecture, and a strong passion for building designs and building codes.

  • Relevant degree in engineering or architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code (Part 3), National Building Code (NBC) and Fire Codes (NFC & NFPA).
  • Analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Self-driven with a high level of initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Versatile and able to manage varying workloads and competing priorities.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with project team members and clients.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
