About the Role
Are you passionate about building scalable and reliable database systems for the cloud? Do you want to be part of a team that revolutionizes the way people manage vast volumes of data?


Aurora is a distributed, fault-tolerant database service that leverages a self-healing storage system, performing up to five times faster than standard MySQL databases and three times faster than standard PostgreSQL databases.


We are looking for a skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and implementation of major database components to allow Amazon Aurora to scale and perform for growing customer demands under the project of Aurora Global Database.


Aurora Global Database is designed for globally distributed applications, allowing a single Amazon Aurora database to span multiple AWS Regions. It replicates your data with no impact on database performance, enables fast local reads with low latency in each Region, and provides disaster recovery from Region-wide outages.

Key responsibilities include delivering software features and improvements to major portions of your team's software, working with customers, stakeholders, and peers to understand and deliver the right solutions, designing software solutions to enable new features or improve existing ones, and contributing to the full software development lifecycle.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800/year up to $191,800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company, and dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
