Job Summary

Zelus Material Handling is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crane Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks while working out in the field, including installations, repair service, and preventative maintenance of overhead cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and Inspect Equipment: Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Display a Professional Image: Display a professional image and work within a team environment to accomplish goals, promoting a positive and productive work culture.
  • Inspect and Maintain Equipment: Inspect hoists, cranes, systems, chain falls, and pullers, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Order Parts and Maintain Inventory: Order parts and maintain inventory, ensuring that all necessary materials are on hand to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Keep Maintenance Reports and Documentation: Keep accurate and detailed maintenance reports and documentation, tracking all work performed and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform Crane Inspections and Repairs: Perform crane inspections, repairs, installations, and respond to breakdown calls, ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Adjust Equipment and Repair or Replace Defective Parts: Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Ensure Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation: Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OHSA), promoting safe working practices and awareness of rights.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the team.
Requirements
  • Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent: Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent as a minimum.
  • 3 Years of Crane Experience: 3 years of crane experience, with a strong understanding of crane operations and maintenance.
  • Experience Working in a Manufacturing Environment: Experience working in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of production processes and equipment.
  • Welding Experience Considered an Asset: Welding experience considered an asset, with a strong understanding of welding techniques and safety protocols.
  • Critical Thinking Skills: Critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Technically Inclined: Technically inclined, with a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Mechanical aptitude, with the ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Excellent People and Communication Skills: Excellent people and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Lifting Up to 50lbs: Lifting up to 50lbs, with the ability to work in elevated areas and perform tasks that require physical effort.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Systems: Knowledge and understanding of structural, electrical, and mechanical systems, with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Able to Work in Elevated Areas: Able to work in elevated areas, with a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Eager to Learn: Eager to learn, with a strong desire to develop new skills and knowledge.
  • Available to Work Overtime as Required: Available to work overtime as required, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering results.
  • Must Have Reliable Own Transportation, G License, and Driver's License in Good Standing: Must have reliable own transportation, G license, and driver's license in good standing, with a strong understanding of road safety protocols and procedures.
