Senior Financial Analyst Job Description
Supports strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis, advice, and recommendations to PHSA leadership, with a focus on budget development, reporting, and resource utilization.
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in the development, compilation, and review of annual and multi-year budgets, as well as period-end reporting. They collaborate with senior staff to identify opportunities for operational and financial resource utilization, conduct reviews and process improvement initiatives, and provide financial planning for specific services or programs.
The role requires a broad understanding of operational and financial issues, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a complex, multi-site organization. The Senior Financial Analyst operates at a strategic level, monitoring and reporting on the fiscal performance of the organization, and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidate PHSA's interim and year-end financial reports and forecasts, including a written variance analysis for the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Prepare comprehensive and timely reports for Ministry of Health requests for financial information.
- Develop confidential analytical reports and briefings as requested by PHSA senior management.
- Collaborate with PHSA senior staff to identify opportunities for increased operational and financial resource utilization.
- Assist corporate and agency staff with financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Identify and develop "best practices" for reporting, systems design, and development.
- Provide financial planning and management for specific services or programs.
- Prepare PHSA consolidated Statement of Operations for reporting.
- Administer the implementation of MOHS funding.
- Provide training to PHSA non-financial corporate staff.
- Assist with the establishment of short and long-term financial objectives.
Requirements:
- Professional designation or MBA with 5+ years of experience in FP&A.
- Ability to understand the financial impact of operational decisions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
- Personal qualities such as taking personal responsibility, possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, communicating with honesty and kindness, leading with courage, and fostering connections and trust.
