About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager/Operations Manager, the Registered Pharmacy Technician participates in the provision of safe, competent, patient-centered care, ensuring the goals and needs of the patient are prioritized and individualized. Responsibilities include:

  • Compounding of sterile and non-sterile dosage forms
  • Dispensing drugs to inpatients and outpatients in unit dose
  • Working with automation
  • Inventory control
  • Medication reconciliation
  • CIVA systems
  • Preparation of chemotherapy doses
  • Distributing narcotics
  • Participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives
About You

We're looking for a skilled and experienced Registered Pharmacy Technician who:

  • Has a graduate degree from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Is licensed and registered in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP)
  • Has experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital
  • Has knowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy
  • Has experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, and decentralized medication dispensing cabinets
  • Has knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control, and record keeping
  • Has demonstrated good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Has demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
  • Has knowledge of the law and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage, and distribution of prescription and narcotic drugs
  • Has basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience
  • Has effective communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation and Benefits

Registered Technician: $27.89 Hourly
