About the role
As a Claims Consultant for Surety in Central and Western Regions, you will be part of a high-performing team focused on Specialty Lines Claims, specifically Contract Surety, Commercial Surety, Developer Surety, and Home Warranty claims.
Your expertise in surety claims will be pivotal in collaborating with the team to deliver exceptional service and maintain Intact's reputation for claims handling excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle complex surety bond claims, including coverage assessment and loss recovery activities
- Collaborate with Surety Underwriting and provide support on claims-related matters
- Develop strategies for claims handling and resolution in alignment with the Manager
- Coach junior staff on complex claims
- Stay informed about industry trends and collaborate with management on proactive strategies
- Navigate insolvencies and work with Trustees/Receivers as needed
- Negotiate claim settlements and execute resolutions
- Manage documentation and claim strategy within established levels
- Collaborate with internal and external resources for claims handling
- Support departmental initiatives and changes as required
- Ensure transparent communication with stakeholders for a seamless experience
Requirements:
- Legal degree required
- 5-10 years of surety claim experience
- Management and mentoring background an asset
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and ownership mindset
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
- Flexibility for travel as needed
