Director, Market, Counterparty Credit, Liquidity and Model Risk Policy

Job Summary: Director, Market, Counterparty Credit, Liquidity and Model Risk Policy sought to provide senior-level advice and support for governance and risk oversight, developing and maintaining market, counterparty credit, liquidity, and model risk policies.
The Director, Market, Counterparty Credit, Liquidity and Model Risk Policy will provide senior-level advice and support for the provision of governance and risk oversight with responsibility for the development, maintenance, and communication of market, counterparty credit, liquidity, and model risk as well as other relevant risk policy documents, including Standing Orders, and related governance artifacts throughout RBC group-wide.
You will lead the development of policies that support the management of risk with a focus on capital markets activities and portfolios through the implementation of "best practice" measures.
The incumbent will ensure effective communication of risk management policies to the relevant businesses and control functions and provide training to RBC personnel as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in the development (drafting and engagement of stakeholders to address policy issues), maintenance, and management of market, counterparty credit, liquidity, and model risk, as well as other risk policy documents, ensure alignment with the RBC policy governance Target Operating Model (TOM), business strategies, and risk appetite.
- Identify, interpret, and lead policy development to mitigate risks for regulatory guidelines and business-driven initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Partner with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, and other groups across RBC to develop effective, understandable, and implementable policies.
- Provide senior-level advice and support to managers and executives of Group Risk Management (GRM), other stakeholders, and partners, the New Business Committee, and other relevant committees.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of developments in the business, internal, market, and regulatory environments, and incorporate changes into policies as appropriate.
- Assist with the publication of policies and other relevant documents onto the Policy & Procedure Library, and the administration and maintenance of the Market, Counterparty Credit, Liquidity, and Model Risk Policy web pages, Connect, and Confluence.
- Communicate risk policies effectively and responsively. Develop and deliver formal and ad-hoc training and guidance on policy requirements and governance in consultation with senior stakeholders.
- Perform policy monitoring and checking for implementation effectiveness, as appropriate.
- Assist with the design and maintenance of an effective and efficient policy review and approval process, including submission standards, committee mandates (terms of references), approval management, and the flow of policy papers through the New Business Committee and other relevant committees.
- Assist stakeholders in ensuring relevant authorities are delegated to the appropriate individuals in line with policy documents.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in market, counterparty credit, credit, liquidity, and/or model risk management with strong knowledge of risk adjudication and/or policy approval process.
- Excellent influencing skills and ability to partner with the right people to achieve collective results.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral). Diplomatic and an effective consensus builder; advanced people management skills with ability to develop and maintain relationships across business platforms and control functions.
- Strong growth mindset to proactively seek out, listen, and learn from people with distinct viewpoints and knowledge.
- Mature, professional individual with initiative and sense of urgency. Strong judgment and drive to make an impact.

Preferred Qualifications:
- University degree (e.g., MBA or LL.B) and/or professional designation (e.g., CFA or CPA)
- Project management experience and/or project management designation
- Good Python programming or other automation/analytics skills.
