Job Summary

The Director, Market, Counterparty Credit, Liquidity and Model Risk Policy will provide senior-level advice and support for the provision of governance and risk oversight with responsibility for the development, maintenance, and communication of market, counterparty credit, liquidity, and model risk policies, as well as other relevant risk policy documents, throughout RBC group-wide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of policies that support the management of risk with a focus on capital markets activities and portfolios through the implementation of best practice measures.
  • Provide senior-level advice and support to managers and executives of Group Risk Management (GRM), other stakeholders, and partners, the New Business Committee, and other relevant committees.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, partner with subject matter experts, and other groups across RBC to develop effective, understandable, and implementable policies.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of developments in the business, internal, market, and regulatory environments, and incorporate changes into policies as appropriate.
  • Review and interpret the guidance of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions and other relevant regulatory bodies and advise on their impact to RBC.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in market, counterparty credit, credit, liquidity, and/or model risk management with strong knowledge of risk adjudication and/or policy approval process.
  • Excellent influencing skills and ability to partner with the right people to achieve collective results.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral), diplomatic, and an effective consensus builder; advanced people management skills with ability to develop and maintain relationships across business platforms and control functions.
  • Strong growth mindset to proactively seek out, listen, and learn from people with distinct viewpoints and knowledge.
  • Mature, professional individual with initiative and sense of urgency, strong judgement, and drive to make an impact.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to make logical or implied connections from a vast array of information, intellectual curiosity, global and strategic mindset.
