We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Newfoundland Power Inc. as a key member of our Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Vision and Leadership: Provide expert legal counsel and strategic guidance to the executive and senior management teams on all legal matters.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with legislative requirements through the oversight of regulatory filings and serving as a critical liaison with regulatory bodies.
- Corporate Governance: Support the Board of Directors on corporate governance practices and ensure that the company's legal function is aligned with its overall business objectives.
- Team Leadership: Lead the legal team to implement strategies and achieve organizational objectives.
- Law Degree: LLB or JD from a recognized institution, and membership in the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Experience: 10-15 years of experience in legal, regulatory, and governance roles.
- Certifications: Certified In-House Counsel Canada (CIC.C) designation or equivalent.
- Exceptional Communication: Strong communication and analytical abilities.
- Business Acumen: Deep knowledge of corporate and administrative law.
- Leadership: Motivated, results-driven, and skilled at influencing decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
