Summary

Position: Print and Visual Researcher
Location: 9 Channel Nine Court, Scarborough, ON. (This is primarily a Remote position)
Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
Job Status: Regular Full Time
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, including weekends, evenings and holidays as required

Responsibilities

  • Handle daily print and visual requests from all news productions groups
  • Select and permanently archive material of true value for current and future production and for social and historical relevance, including CTV National News, CTV News Channel programming, and all relevant raw footage
  • Seek and assign correct copyright information for all archived footage
  • Provide stills and graphic elements for on-air presentation, graphics and news reports -confirm copyright clearance/deliver content within tight deadlines
  • Assist with special projects and/or news events (ie Elections, Olympics, in-depth research packages for special coverage)
  • Assist with Archive Sales
Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in Library Studies, Broadcasting, Journalism or equivalent work experience
  • Have strong editorial judgement and in-depth knowledge and interest in history, news, current affairs and pop culture
  • Knowledge of digital asset management systems, Avid MediaCentral Cloud UX and iNews preferred
  • Exceptional skills in searching and fact-checking using the internet and social media platforms
  • Familiarity with commercial news or image databases (CP Images, Getty, ProQuest, etc.) is an asset
  • Must have ability to work independently (in a remote setting) and within a team – flexibility is a must
  • Must work well under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Good organization, accuracy and attention to detail is essential
  • Must have good written, communication and customer service skills
