Job Summary:

Seeking a skilled Social Worker to provide school mental health services in designated schools, working collaboratively with the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Addiction Services and the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP).

About the Role:

The successful candidate will provide school mental health services directly in the school environment, working with students, families, and school staff to promote mental health and well-being. The role will involve assessing students' mental health needs, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing education and support to students, families, and school staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess students' mental health needs and develop treatment plans
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to students
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to promote mental health and well-being
  • Develop and implement education and support programs for students and families
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' mental health needs
About the Team:

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Work with a specialization in clinical mental health or addiction
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers
  • At least two years of experience working in a mental health setting
  • Expertise in behavioral management, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and group therapy for children and adolescents
  • Knowledge of the DSM-V and ability to use it to assess and diagnose mental health disorders
