Job Summary: Senior Policy Analyst position available at the Department of Justice, responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating policy for the department.

The Department of Justice is responsible for the administration of justice and promoting access to justice and safety for Nova Scotians. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will work closely with the Senior Executive Advisor to the Deputy Minister to develop, implement, and evaluate policy for the department. You will conduct comprehensive research, analysis, and evaluation of complex policy, and provide policy advice to senior leadership.

About the Role
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policy for the Department of Justice
  • Conduct comprehensive research, analysis, and evaluation of complex policy
  • Provide policy advice to senior leadership
  • Engage with stakeholders and conduct policy reviews
  • Prepare complex submissions to Executive Council and the Finance and Treasury Board
  • Develop and participate in briefings and presentations to support senior leadership
  • Lead the department's corporate preparation of the annual Accountability Report
  • Provide policy advice and assure quality control of divisional briefing materials

The Department of Justice is responsible for the administration of justice and promoting access to justice and safety for Nova Scotians. We are guided by the principles of preventative and restorative justice in fulfilling our mandate.

Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., public administration, or the social sciences
  • Several years of research and policy experience
  • Expert knowledge of research methods and ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and administrative skills

Pay Grade: EC 11

Salary Range: $3, $4,189.95 Bi-Weekly
