What is the opportunity?

The Strategic Data & Insights Lead is responsible for providing strategic communications consultation and support through the collection, visualization, and delivery of strategy-aligned content and data to the internal Wealth Management Technology & Solutions (WMTS) team and applicable stakeholders across the Wealth Management businesses and Technology & Operations. Responsible for analyzing and interpreting data to drive informed decision making and strategy refinement within WMTS in alignment with enterprise targets and initiatives. Additionally, this role will translate complex data into compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, including business and IT executives. Develops data driven presentations, reports and dashboards that facilitate understanding across the organization, and assists in data supported storytelling to promote achievements and impact of internal technology teams within the organization. Provides counsel and support to senior leadership in communicating strategy and progress to internal and external stakeholders.

What will you do?

  • Perform data analysis to drive deeper insights supporting business value and productivity driven through technology investment
  • Effectively identify and visualize impactful metrics and data through dashboarding and reporting
  • Provide insight into the effective use of metrics in strategic storytelling and craft strategic commentary appropriate to a variety of audiences including business and IT executives
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of an internal marketing strategy to raise awareness of WMTS contributions across RBC
  • Actively contributes to strategy planning and reporting activities
  • Provide consultation to contributors on translating strategic messages using the power of words, images, data, and animation
  • Identify internal capability requirements in storytelling, data analysis for the purpose of strategic insights, and written/verbal presentation skills
  • Explore innovative opportunities to improve strategic storytelling capability (AI, support tools, communications guidelines)

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Expert level use of Excel and Tableau for data analysis and visualization to support the analysis of complex data sets to extract meaningful insights and trends aligned to overarching business goals and objectives
  • Strong narrative-building skills to effectively communicate insights in a compelling and understandable manner to a variety of stakeholders including business and IT executives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey insights clearly and persuasively
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical executive stakeholders
  • Capacity to lead and influence decision-making processes by leveraging data-driven insights to drive strategic initiatives and business outcomes

Nice-to-have

  • Understanding of the Financial industry, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to contextualize insights within a broader business framework
  • Working level knowledge of other data management, analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, SQL Server, etc
  • Formal Marketing/Communications education or work experience
  • Understanding of software engineering design principles
