Patient Engagement Consultant sought to promote and enhance patient and public engagement in Manitoba, utilizing trauma-informed and cross-cultural approaches.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with researchers, patient and public partners, and knowledge users to promote and enhance patient and public engagement and patient-oriented research in Manitoba.
  • Provide facilitation services utilizing trauma-informed and cross-cultural approaches.
  • Develop and implement patient engagement strategies, participatory approaches, recruitment strategies, and patient engagement materials.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise around diversity, inclusion, and equity within patient engagement strategies.
Requirements
  • 5 years of progressive experience in working within project coordination/management, research, or health sciences fields.
  • 3 years of experience managing diverse internal and external stakeholder and partner relationships.
  • 2 years of experience using public engagement tools, such as virtual engagement and focus groups.
  • Experience working and negotiating with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience conducting literature searches, conducting interviews/focus groups, and synthesizing qualitative data.
  • Experience in effective Patient and Public Engagement Strategies.
  • Experience with facilitation of meetings and workshops for diverse stakeholder groups.
Education and Training
  • Degree in health sciences, social-behavioural sciences, or a related field.
  • Academic preparation in research methods.
  • Specific Patient & Public Engagement courses/education or Knowledge Translation courses is an asset.
  • Courses or training in facilitation is an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated comprehensive senior leadership capabilities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, editorial, and verbal communication skills.
  • Active listening skills to gain insight into the interests, issues, and innovations of consortium members, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Effective relationship building and facilitation skills to foster collaboration among individuals and groups.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically capable of providing service in a wide variety of community settings under varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license required.
