Pharmacoeconomist role at Express Scripts Canada involves providing expertise to optimize pharmacy benefit management products from clinical and economic perspectives.
As a key member of the Clinical Services team, you will analyze and interpret the cost-effectiveness and outcomes of various pharmaceutical products to inform decision-making, formulary management, and cost containment strategies. Your expertise will also support clients' pharmaceutical value-based efforts through data analytics and evidence-based medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, advise, and perform pharmacoeconomic analyses, including cost-effectiveness and multi-criteria decision analyses
- Participate in strategic and research objectives related to pharmaceutical spending and value-based efforts
- Perform or critically appraise budget impact analyses on new and marketed pharmaceutical products
- Develop and maintain pharmacoeconomic models and analyze claims data to generate insights
- Lead a value assessment committee, directing meetings, gathering information, analyzing data, and creating processes
- Collaborate with colleagues to review, evaluate, and prioritize pharmaceutical products for inclusion in formularies and benefit management programs
- Monitor market trends, drug pricing, and healthcare policies to assess their impact on cost containment strategies
- Assist in designing tools to document outcomes and value associated with pharmacoeconomic activities
- Provide analyses related to pharmaceutical value-based efforts to cross-functional teams
- Participate in client meetings and program planning, strategic planning, and business development activities
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Health Economics, Pharmacoeconomics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in conducting pharmacoeconomic analyses in the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare consulting, or at a PBM
- Experience in pharmacy benefits management, group insurance, or benefits consulting
- Strong analytical skills with various pharmacoeconomic methodologies, including data analytics
- Familiarity with health technology assessment (HTA) processes and guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Resourcefulness skills to identify and address potential challenges
