About this opportunity

Cenovus's New Grad Program strives to attract, develop and retain outstanding new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company. The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus's core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities

Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span Cenovus's varied business areas. Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business need and relocation may be required.

As an Engineer-in-Training at Cenovus, possible rotations could include:

  • Facility Design
  • Development and Field Facility Engineering
  • Drilling, Completions & Well Servicing
  • Integrity Engineering/Technical Services
  • Maintenance & Reliability
  • Operations Process
  • Process and Technical Safety
  • Process Controls & Design
  • Production, Project, and Reservoir Engineering

Responsibilities will be dependent on business unit and specific role of your rotation.

Qualifications/Education

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Available to begin work June 2024
  • Must have an undergraduate or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering acquired by May 31, 2024 and completed within the last 2 years (2022, 2023 or
  • During the three-year program you will be expected and must be willing to relocate to any of Cenovus's operating sites for your rotations and/or your end-of-program placement. Note that your initial location will be considered your "home location" and will likely be where you will be based upon program completion.
  • Depending on your specific EIT rotation, your role may be considered safety sensitive. If it is safety sensitive there will be additional considerations regarding driving and drug/alcohol as outlined below.

Safety Sensitive Considerations:

  • Some of the EIT rotations are deemed safety sensitive positions. Those positions will require you to hold a Class 5 drivers' license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. If selected to work in one of these locations, a Driver's abstract will be requested prior to the commencement of that position. As well, if your rotation location/role is deemed safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
