Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at Pan Am Clinic. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting, protecting, and preserving the health of populations. Your expertise will be essential in applying public health science and nursing theory to prevent injuries, chronic and communicable diseases, and address environmental issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply principles of health promotion, primary prevention, population health, primary health care, harm reduction, and community development in public health settings.
  • Promote equity at a population level and community development with populations who experience lower health status.
  • Provide pre-travel health services, including immunizations and intra-dermal injections.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in other programs, sectors, and organizations to improve health outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address determinants of health and promote equitable health outcomes.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate Nursing degree.
  • Completion of the Authorized Prescriber Program for Travel Health.
  • Current College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Registration (CRNM).
  • CRNM Authorized Prescriber for Travel Health.
  • Active participation in professional associations, such as the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM).
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Public Health Agency of Canada's Skills Enhancement for Public Health Program content module certificate.
  • Canadian Community Health Nurses certification - CCHN(C).
  • Successful completion of a related course at a master level (e.g., epidemiology, community development, community nursing).
Working Conditions
  • Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills, such as immunizations and intra-dermal injections.
  • Physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lb.
  • Access to and use of a reliable motor vehicle during working hours.
