About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Litigation team in our Edmonton office. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative support to our lawyers and play a critical role in the success of our practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support
- Draft and edit routine correspondence, letters, and other documents, including pleadings and court applications;
- Maintain and organize client contacts, file opening and closing;
- Prioritize workflow to ensure completion of accurate work within established timelines;
- Manage administrative tasks, including time entry, billings, calendar management, and coordinating meetings logistics;
- Transcribe digital voicemail and maintain files and diarization on a daily basis;
- Client Support
- Prepare cheque requisitions, wire transfers, trust deposits, and expense reports;
- Update and maintain client/matter lists;
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Paraprofessional team;
- Provide support to new team members in being a buddy/mentor during onboarding;
Requirements
- Legal Assistant diploma from an accredited college plus a minimum of five (5) years of previous legal assistant experience in related practice areas;
- Civil and/or Commercial Litigation experience;
- Superb accuracy, attention to detail, and time management skills;
- Advanced computer skills; proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Experience with digital filing, document management, and dictation software;
- Responsible, dependable, and consistent;
- Demonstrated commitment to privacy and ethical conduct;
- Able to work with minimal instruction and prioritize the workload accordingly;
- Able to work independently and in a team environment;
- Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Self-starter who is able to take initiative, multi-task, and work well under pressure both independently and in a team setting;
