Job Description:

The City of Regina is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Destination Development to lead the development and execution of Tourism Regina's brand strategy, including event activations, digital marketing, and engagement initiatives across all communication channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of Tourism Regina's brand strategy, including event activations, digital marketing, and engagement initiatives across all communication channels.
  • Oversee strategic planning, manage budgets, and ensure alignment with short- and long-term business goals.
  • Drive partner engagement, stakeholder approvals, and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the business unit's goals and objectives to achieve short- to medium-term operational results.
  • Provide input to the development of the Tourism Regina budget, ensuring timely forecasting, ongoing analysis, and proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee client management of external agencies and suppliers, ensuring consistent messaging and maximizing the value of expenditures.
  • Lead the execution of a visitor services strategy and ensure alignment with key tourism stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate the successful delivery of high-profile tourism and event-related projects within the Greater Regina Area.
  • Foster and build strong partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring Tourism Regina is seen as a trusted resource.
  • Provide direct leadership, mentoring, training, and coaching of the Tourism Branch visitor services staff.
  • Contribute to the development of an annual branch-wide workforce plan, focusing on identifying necessary human resources in terms of capacity and competency.
  • Ensure that branch-specific policies, procedures, and practices are developed, maintained, and adhered to.

Key Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Tourism/Hospitality Management, or a related field, combined with a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in tourism management, event planning, or a similar field.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role, demonstrating a strong ability to lead teams and manage budgets effectively.
  • Ability to oversee and guide strategic planning, ensuring alignment with both short- and long-term business goals.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets, including forecasting, ongoing analysis, and developing proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Expertise in developing and executing brand strategies, including event activations and digital marketing.
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and partners, ensuring effective collaboration and support.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate high-profile tourism and event-related projects, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with objectives.
  • Experience in leading the execution of visitor services strategies and aligning them with stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Proven ability to provide direct leadership, mentoring, and coaching to team members, fostering a high-performance environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills for presenting ideas, recommendations, and managing stakeholder interactions.
  • Skills in managing client relationships and overseeing external agencies and suppliers to ensure consistency and value.
  • Knowledge in developing, maintaining, and adhering to branch-specific policies, procedures, and practices.
