The Spiral Garden is an integrated art/garden/play program for children and youth with physical disabilities and developmental delays.
Participants will interact and play through music, visual art, movement, drama, gardening and other arts activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for assigned client (communication, personal care, eating support, focus, behaviour, activity tasks etc.)
- Facilitate assigned client's fullest possible participation in the program
- Assist Care Coordinator with other clients' needs as necessary
- Assist safe participation of clients
- Support lunch/break times of client/s
- Contribute to daily debriefing meetings
- Collaborate with program staff, volunteers and families
- Work as a team member with the larger Team, including site prep and clean up, participation in group activities such as arts activities, music etc.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices
- Encourage and support participants in oral communication, working with others, problem solving, decision-making, task planning and organizing, and peer socialization.
- Apply crisis intervention strategies calmly and effectively, respond quickly to situations.
- Ability to work in a busy, creative environment and physically demanding (lifts and transfers)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Diploma in Developmental Service Work, Personal Support Worker certificate/diploma, nursing education, child youth worker/development degree/diploma or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education required.
- Basic CPR certification – Basic Rescuer (C) certificate an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate an asset
- ASL qualifications an asset
- Proven experience and training working with children or youth with physical disabilities, developmental delays and those who are neurodivergent
- Experience with creative arts (music, art, drama) facilitation and participation preferred
- Demonstrates ability to be flexible, to assess the needs of individuals and to respond quickly to needs
- Demonstrates initiative and self direction to work independently at times
- Demonstrates ability to organize time and manage working hours
- Demonstrates ability to work in collaboration with staff/clients/families
- Demonstrates sound judgment and excellent communication skills
- Ability to perform lifts, transfer or position participants ages 4 to 18 independently, as needed and appropriate
- Ability and experience in feeding and providing personal care to participants independently, as needed and appropriate
