Nutrition and Food Service Supervisor

Nova Scotia Health is a leading provider of health services in Nova Scotia, with a mission to achieve excellence in health, healing, and learning. We're seeking a skilled Nutrition and Food Service Supervisor to join our team at Roseway Hospital in the Western Zone.

About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will be responsible for the front-line supervision of employees, day-to-day operations, meal service and delivery, and ensuring safe and efficient operations of assigned work areas. As an ambassador and liaison within the integrated model of Nutrition and Food Services, the Supervisor will be a resource and leader for employees in the area and remote sites.

About You

  • Completion of a recognized course in Food and Nutrition Management or Nutrition post-secondary degree (preferred)
  • Journeyman Cook Certification is an asset
  • Completion of an Advanced Food Safety Certification and HACCP Training
  • Experience in food service or clinical nutrition management or leadership and operations required, minimum of two (2) years' preferred (recent relevant experience within the last 5 years)
  • Experience preferred in a health care setting and unionized environment
  • Knowledge of and experience in customer-focused food service operations
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities/staff management/coaching in a unionized environment; Hire, Develop & Retain Solid Performers
  • Demonstrated judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated accountability (fiscal, quality improvement, food safety, effective use of food resources, policy implementation/create supportive environments for healthy eating, marketing)
  • People-focused; demonstrated ability to build internal and external collaborative relationships; Understanding and Responding to Stakeholder Needs & Values Relationship with our Stakeholders.
  • Provide Customer-Focused Service Supporting Person-Centered Care; Deliver Customer-Focused Quality Service
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. Takes action to address challenges
  • Ability to work outside a set schedule/beyond normal working hours as required
  • Travel to other sites or throughout the province is required. Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours and Compensation

  • Permanent, Part-time / 30 hours Biweekly
  • Hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • $37.38 Hourly
