Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the engineering team in the development of comprehensive site evaluations, infrastructure planning, and subdivision design. This is an exciting opportunity to drive impactful projects from inception to completion while demonstrating leadership and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough site evaluations, analyzing topographic surveys, soil assessments, and environmental impact studies, to identify potential constraints or challenges that may impact development projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to plan and design essential infrastructure components, such as roads, sidewalks, utilities, drainage systems, and landscaping.
  • Develop innovative and practical subdivision layouts that optimize land use, infrastructure development, and business needs, managing the subdivision approval process and coordinating with local authorities and obtaining required permits and approvals.
  • Stay current with local regulations and ensure that all designs comply with these requirements, coordinating with government agencies, review boards, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, preparing project schedules, budgets, and progress reports, and supporting the work of junior staff involved in project(s).
  • Conduct comprehensive cost estimations by analyzing project requirements, materials, labor, and equipment costs, preparing detailed cost breakdowns and budgets for the project, including a breakdown of anticipated expenses phased projects.
  • Develop project specifications that outline the technical requirements, materials, and quality standards for construction, ensuring that specifications comply with industry standards, regulations, and client expectations.
  • Prepare and review contract documents, including agreements, scopes of work, and terms and conditions, ensuring that contract documents are accurate, comprehensive, and align with project requirements.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of municipal/civil engineering experience, with a focus on subdivision layout, road design, service design, and development projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; a Master's degree would be an asset.
  • On path for registration or currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
  • Proven understanding of zoning and subdivision regulations.
  • Proven project management and technical skills.
  • Experience with software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
