We are seeking a Solutions Architect to design and lead the technical delivery of integrated technology solutions at Canadian Tire.





Reporting to the Principal Architect, the Solutions Architect's primary role is to design and lead the technical delivery of integrated technology solutions. This integrated solution typically consists of various in-house services and may be coupled with external solutions. The Solutions Architect will continue with the project beyond architecture and design in an advisory capacity to ensure deliverables meet design specifications and will be involved in the integrated implementation plan.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical solution leadership for capabilities under the HR and Corporate portfolios
• Producing target state architecture and roadmaps for the accountable portfolio
• Acting as a trusted advisor by providing advice on data movement and integration best practices, solution security, infrastructure, networking, and resiliency
• Leading architecture for projects of various types, including SAAS selection and implementation, migration of legacy solutions from on-prem to the cloud, or build of custom solutions in Azure
• Working closely with teams across the enterprise to implement and integrate scalable and reliable technologies
• Managing architectural risk mitigation and remediation
• Delivering solution designs that align with our overall enterprise architecture strategy and standards
• Communicating solution design to get alignment across business and technology stakeholders
• Providing more detail for delivery on enterprise architecture designs so offshore development or external vendors can complete the solution
• Publishing and presenting design findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Establishing and maintaining solution architecture standards, providing direction to project teams and vendors to ensure compliance
• Working closely with delivery, platform security, and risk/compliance areas to review and evaluate designs
• Monitoring and assessing emerging technologies and future direction of major application platforms to recommend improvements for delivery
• Governing the delivery elements for the overall solution to ensure fit to design
• Creating technical process model/flows to visualize solution architecture
• Completing the solution implementation plan for all internal and external service providers delivering solutions for the project

Requirements include:

• Post-secondary education, preferably in Computer Science or related fields
• 5 or more years of practical experience as a Solution Architect
• Strong technology research skill set with proven ability to architect and present technology alternatives based on scope-level business concepts
• Strong object-oriented analysis and design skills with the understanding of design patterns for n-tier and service-oriented architectures, including web services
• Knowledge in principles of software architecture, techniques, and UML notation
• Demonstrated ability to learn new information and systems quickly
• Ability to work successfully in a highly matrix organization and build partnerships with peers and vendors
• Knowledge of Containers and containers orchestration tools
• Expertise in solution design and development
• Knowledge and experience regarding the practical application of security/risk concepts, standards, and regulations
• Experience designing and delivering web-based solutions integrating to legacy back-end environments
• Experience designing/implementing HCM software is a plus
