Grounding & Materials Standards Engineer Grounding & Materials Standards Engineer

Join Nova Scotia Power's Standards team as a Grounding & Materials Standards Engineer, reporting to the Senior Manager, Standards and Reliability.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to create and maintain grounding distribution design and material Standards, working closely with the Senior Materials Technologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and update distribution design Standards for distribution grounding systems, including Engineered Drawings used by Planners and Power Line Technicians.
  • Create and update Standard Work Methods through collaboration with field-based personnel for grounding systems.
  • Approve Tools and Equipment used in the execution of work as defined in Standard Work Method(s).
  • Conduct material review and assessments, incorporating findings into Standards deliverables.
  • Specify and approve materials for field installation as defined in Design Standards.
  • Provide procurement support, including bid evaluations and technical recommendations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 years of relevant experience working in a utility environment.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers NS.
  • Familiarity with distribution assets and system design, construction, and/or operation is beneficial.
