We are looking for a Manager, Distribution Engineering Standards to join our Engagement and Standards team. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Reliability, Engagement & Standards, you will join a team of professionals at our Halifax location where we offer you a hybrid work option.
The development and oversight of Distribution Standards is a foundational utility function, and this role will oversee the development of customer service connection standards, underground and overhead construction standards, materials specifications and pole line analysis. You will lead the distribution standards team with the over-arching requirement to provide pre-engineered designs, materials and methodologies for the installation of distribution assets across the province.
Key elements of this role include:- Creation and updating of distribution design Standards for underground (UG) and overhead (OH) systems. These documents are Engineered Drawings that are used by Planners and Power Line Technicians for the design and installation of the many assemblies that make up the NSPI distribution system.
- Provide leadership, support and advice to team members and help them grow as engineers and technical leaders.
- Be a leader in working safely and efficiently. Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and create a safety culture where safety is first, and employees are recognized for safe performance and compliance with safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Lead by example by demonstrating NS Power's commitment to a diverse, respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Approval of Tools and Equipment used in the execution of work as defined in Standard Work Method(s).

- Collaborate with other departments for alignment with operational field based teams.
- Keeping abreast of, and shaping industry standards via participation in standards organizations such as the Canadian Standards Association, Underwriter's Laboratories of Canada and others. Ensuring changes are incorporated into Standards deliverables and communicated to NS Power Operations teams.
- Completion of field audits, and participation in Quality Assurance activities related to standards functions

- A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
- Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers NS
- Familiarity with distribution assets and system design, construction and/or operation is considered an asset
