About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snowboard Instructor/Coach to join our team at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. As a Snowboard Instructor/Coach, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional on-snow instruction to guests of all ages and skill levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of students and guests by providing professional instruction and guidance on the mountain.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment by working collaboratively with other instructors and resort staff.
- Mentor and lead our team of instructors to develop excellence in teaching and coaching.
- Conduct instructor training sessions to advance the skills of our growing team.
- Provide group and private lessons for all ages and skill levels in beginner to expert terrain.
- Maintain accurate records of teaching and student progress with the Winter Sports School Team Lead.
- Participate in daily team meetings, training, and other communications to ensure a high-quality instructional experience for our guests.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Be flexible with regards to scheduled hours and lesson types.
- Be able to withstand extended periods of exposure to extreme weather conditions on the mountain.
Requirements:
- Be an advocate for health and safety, prioritizing the well-being of colleagues, clients, and guests.
- Hold relevant CASI Level 3 or 4 Instructor certification.
- Have CASI Level 1 & 2 course conductor/trainer status (an asset).
- Have previous professional work experience in a snow or recreation instructor role, commensurate with certification level.
- Exhibit an outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.
- Be passionate about instructing and creating a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Have a strong passion for mountain culture, skiing/snowboarding, and the resort environment.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and cooperation experience.
- Be committed to safety and have flexibility in hours and lesson type.
- Be able to withstand extended periods of exposure to extreme weather conditions on the mountain.
- Have sufficient physical strength, conditioning, and stamina to conduct on-mountain ski or snowboarding lessons for extended periods.
- First Aid, guiding, and/or avalanche certification or training (an asset).
- Have a completed criminal background check.
- Be able to provide professional references.
